Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company (JDURC) was established pursuant to a Royal Decree in 23 Shawwal 1427 H, corresponding to 14 November 2006. The founding of JDURC came in response to the demand imposed by the rapid expansion in economy and urbanization, which Saudi Arabia as a whole and Jeddah in particular is experiencing.

Jeddah plays an important role as the Gateway to the two holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. Part of The Municipalityís vision is to enhance that role. JDURC strives to participate in achieving that by working to turn the city into a center for Islamic Culture. Furthermore, one of the objectives of the company is to strengthen Jeddahís status as a distinguished trade and tourist destination.

JDURC seeks to partner with the private sector by developing strategic plans, which are flexible enough to tackle current and future needs of Jeddah. The company has adopted a clear objective to develop lands which belong to Jeddah Municipality, in addition to the regeneration of unplanned districts.

By devoting all assets, whether local or international, and by utilizing prior experiences of others, Jeddah will realize its potentials as a vibrant city.
